چکیده
In many clusters of galaxies there is evidence for cooling flows in the central regions. A possibility is that a fraction of the gas forms cold molecular clouds. We investigate the minimum temperature which can be reached by clouds in cooling flows by computing the cooling function due to H 2 , HD and CO molecules. As an example, we determine the minimum temperature achievable by clouds in the cooling flow of PKS 0745-191.

Variations in the number of globular clusters per unit galaxy luminosity, which is the specific frequency, and the mass of globular clusters per unit total available mass, are reviewed. Correlations with galaxy luminosity and morphology, and with the properties of the associated galactic clusters are discussed, as are the color distributions of globular cluster populations. Several models for t...

We present an analysis of the orbital properties in 9 intermediate-redshifts cluster of the CNOC1 survey and we compare them to a control sample of 12 nearby clusters. Similar to the nearby elliptical galaxies, the bulge-dominated galaxies in clusters at redshifts ∼ 0.1 − 0.4 present orbits that are more eccentric than those for disk-dominated galaxies. However, the orbital segregation is less ...

The GRAPE-4, the world's fastest computer in 1995-1997, has produced some major scientific results, through a wide diversity of large-scale simulations in astrophysics. Applications have ranged from planetary formation, through the evolution of star clusters and galactic nuclei, to the formation of galaxies and clusters of galaxies.
